Celebrating a month of ocean and mermaid dreams – Mermay 2024

April 9, 2024/in Art Process, Blog, Creative Life

Hey, everyone. So today, I have a super exciting thing that I wanted to talk a little bit about something exciting I have coming up for all of our creative community. So, I love all things fairy tale and ocean. Those two kind of, beautiful and perfectly merge into the beautiful and fabulous realm of mermaids, mermaid lore. So, we’re stood approaching, the month of May.

And as you might, know, maybe this is new for you, there’s this global phenomenon called Mermay, meaning, the merging of the two words, may and mermaids. And, traditionally, that has meant that, people from all over the world, challenge themselves to paint and draw and muse creatively over mermaids in the month of May. So I’ve been having this dream of making my contribution to celebrating mermaids in Mermay and I’m super happy to reveal that I am opening this little challenge this year, called Mermay with Ida. It’s just that’s the name of it. So that’s gonna be Mermay with me, yours truly, Ida Andersen Lang.

So, I’m gonna reveal more about, the exacts about, my Mermay challenge. It’s gonna be a little bit of a challenge. I’m gonna host from the 1st May and then for around a week or so.

And it’s gonna be super fun. It’s gonna be, lessons. Super easy doable lessons get your creative juices flowing. It’s gonna be Mermay prompts, for for day 1, 2, 3, and so forth that you can that you can use as springboard for your own creativity. There’s gonna be some other prompts and some inspirations and all kinds of interesting, juicy, creative, like, what can we say, starters and, kind of little bit nutrition for your creative journey.

So I’m pretty excited about this. This this video is absolutely non scripted. It’s just me pushing the record button. And I just wanted to tell you early here that I’m gonna host this, beautiful event or challenge, Mermay with Ida. And, I don’t, have the sign up link ready just yet.

As soon as I have it, I’m gonna update it under the video if, you view it later, maybe. Who knows? Who knows? But just, have, you know, block out time in your calendar from May 1st. And I think it’s gonna be around 5 or 7 days.

I’m not a 100% sure about that yet, but, like, 5, 7 days, something like that, for the challenge itself. And then, of course, we expand it to the whole month of May. That’s going to be super, super awesome. Mermay is also going to be my general focus and a theme for everything I’m doing in the month of May. That’s gonna be my theme and focus in my my, mixed media membership, Art Soul Living, and pretty much everything I’m doing.

I’m also gonna be doing some drawing stuff, with some of you in May themed around mermaids and a you know, a celebration and, just, always, yeah, celebration and, tribute to our beautiful oceans. I was, as a dane, everybody’s close to the sea, I’m like so, the sea is very close to my heart, and I’m really looking forward to diving deep into this for the whole month of May with you. So I just wanted to give you this, like, early bird, heads up that Mermay with Ida is coming up. And, yeah, block out the time, put a link or a timer or whatever it means to you, in your calendar from the 1st May. And, yeah, it’s about like 5, 6, 7 days or something like that.

It’s going to be easy and doable and, a, like, kind of gentle to schedule into your daily life, kind of sketch oriented. But with paint and painting; materials is probably going to be the materials that I often like to use going to be watercolor, color pencils, watercolor pencils, some posca pens, some yeah some whatever. Pan pastels maybe, and surely some drawing as well. So but just bring your creativity and your stash of, creative materials, and we’re gonna celebrate Mermay together. It’s going to be super, super exciting.

So that’s all I wanted to, let you know. It’s just a little bit, heads up that mermaid is coming up with me from the 1st May and a few, days like 5, 6, 7 days. So I hope I’ll see you there, and stay tuned so you will be sure to catch all the information about Mermay with Ida. Bye.
